President: Jill Vassar
Jill has recently completed a two-year term as the Parent Council Treasurer, managing the organization’s $245,000.00 budget. She has volunteered in the past as Asst. Treasurer and as a member of the Sally Foster and Auction Party committees. Jill is married to George, an urologist, and her daughters are in the 1st and 5th grades. The 07-08 year marks the 9th year at St. Luke’s for the Vassar family. Jill has a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College and, in a former life, was Vice President of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation.
President-Elect: Donna Basse
Donna recently served as Vice President for Communications for the Parent Council. She has been a Room Parent, a PATS volunteer, and a leader with the SLES Boy Scouts. A 22-year veteran of the insurance industry, she has co-owned a Third-Party Administrator, served on several insurance boards, and currently manages a local firm. Her husband, Scott, owns several businesses in the transportation industry and their family has had business ties in San Antonio for over 77 years. Their son is in the fourth grade and has been at St. Luke’s since he was four years old.
Treasurer: Bridget Negrón Booth
Bridget recently served as an Asst. Treasurer for the Parent Council. The 07-08 year marks the second year at St. Luke’s for the Booth family and Bridget has also been a member of the Auction Party committee and a Room Parent. Bridget is married to Mike, General Manager of Allways Atascosa Auto Group (Dodge and Chevrolet), and their sons are in PK4 and Kindergarten. Bridget has a B.A. in International Relations from St. Mary’s University, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Madison University and is currently pursuing a degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography at St. Phillip’s College. In her former business life, she was the Executive Director of the South Central Texas Regional Certification Agency.
Vice President - Classroom Activities: Jessica Koontz
Jessica recently Co-Chaired the Uniform Exchange and Original Art Works fundraiser. In the past she has also been a frequent Room Parent, PATS volunteer, and Book Fair volunteer. Jessica is married to Claude, President of Austin, Calvert & Flavin Investment Advisors. Their children are in 5th and 6th grades and have been at St. Luke’s for 9 years. Jessica has been a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church since 1975. She has a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a Master of Public Affairs from UT. In her former life, Jessica was a Middle East politically analyst at the CIA.
Vice President - Appreciation: Libby Bentley
Libby and her husband, Rob, Co-Chaired the 2006 SLES Auction Party, raising $70,000.00 for the school. She has also been a Room Parent and worked on Book Fair. The Bentley’s have two children; their daughter is in 4th grade. Libby is Executive Director of Prevent Blindness San Antonio where her primary responsibilities are grant writing and adult vision screening. She has a B.A. from the University of Southern California (Go Trojans!) and has lived in San Antonio for 16 years.
Vice President – Families: Betty Lansdale
Betty recently completed her first year as VP-Families for the 06-07 Parent Council. She has volunteered in the past as a Room Parent, a member of the Auction Party committee, a San Miguel summer trip organizer and a Marketing committee member. Betty is married to Daryl, and attorney, and their children are in 3rd and 5th grade. The 07-08 year marks the 9th year at St. Luke’s for the Lansdale family. Betty has a B.B.A. from Texas A&M University and a J.D. from the SMU School of Law. Betty was a litigator in her pre-mommy years.
Vice President – Middle School: Betsy Zachry
Betsy recently served as the VP of Appreciation for the 06-07 school year. She has also chaired Book Fair and Trade Fair. She has been a Room Parent every semester for the past eight years and has volunteered in various areas as needed. She is married to Powell, VP of Marketing at Tower Life Insurance Company. They have three daughters in 5th, 7th and 8th grades. Betsy is a graduate of Texas Tech University and, in her previous life, was an interior designer for ten years.
Vice President – Communications: Cathy Case
Cathy has served SLES as a Room Parent, committee member for both the Book Fair and Sally Foster, and was an Original Art Works co-chair for 5 years. Cathy and her husband, Jeff, have enrolled their daughter for 9 years. She is currently a 6th grader. Cathy has a B.A. in business Administration form Incarnate Word College, and, in a former life, was the Director of Training for 1-800-FLOWERS.
Vice President – Special Projects: Patricia Temple
Patricia recently served as the VP of Classroom Activities in 06-07. She has volunteered in the past as Co-Chair of the Book Fair and as a member of the Auction Party committees. Patricia is married to Bob, an attorney, and their daughter is in the 5th grade. The 07-08 year marks the 4th year at St. Luke’s for the Temple family, who moved here from Chicago. Patricia graduated from the Sorbonne, Paris, France with degrees in History and Literature. She has worked at RMC Corporation as an International Sales Manager, and subsequently joined Xerox Learning Systems (for 15 years), where she was a Senior Account Manager. She then ran her own business as a Training Consultant, working primarily in Latin America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, prior to moving to San Antonio.
Vice Presidents – Auction Party: Roxana and Hamlet Newman
Roxana has served as Room Parent, Auction Party committee member and as a Book Fair volunteer. This past year she also chaired the Parent Council PSIA committee. She and Hamlet have three children. Their daughter is the 4th grade at St. Luke’s. They have been proud SLES parents for 10 years and are excited to chair the Auction Party. Her former life was so long ago, that she is having difficulty remembering exactly what she did do!
